Official: Tokyo still prepares for Putin’s visit until end-2015
TOKYO, Oct 14 (PRIME) -- Tokyo is still preparing a visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin until the end of 2015 and takes all aspects into account, Chief Cabinet Secretary of the Japanese government Yoshihide Suga said in a news conference Wednesday.
“We are preparing the president’s visit to Japan to take place until the end of this year on a suitable date. We are looking for the best time taking into account different aspects,” he said.
In November 2014, leaders of the two countries agreed to prepare Putin’s visit until the end of 2015, and this agreement was not abandoned, he added.
The Nikkei newspaper has reported that Russia and Japan are considering a postponement of Putin’s visit to Tokyo until March next year as they do not have enough time to prepare an agreement on economic and territory issues.
